I'm looking for a really short bipod. I really think a 4-7 would be great for my use. I used an atlas today at the 45 degree position and it was basically good. The only thing is that it's out of my budget by alot!

So a 6-9 harris will work but I'd really like to get it to 5" while staying at the harris price range. I can mount to either a rail or sling swivel.

Does such a beast exist?

THIS! With the legs in the forward, 45 degree position, I think that the handguard rail/forend of my rifles rests around 4-5" off the ground. (I never measured it exactly, but it gets low!)

Yeah I will clarify my initial post but yes at the 45 degree is was quite good. Would only need a tad bit of adjustment to be dead on. The only thing is the price is out of my range by far. If I could find a similar height under 100 I'd be game but the atlas is just too much.

For under $100...you are unfortunately SOL.

Re: shortest bipod?

versa-pod makes a really short one. Nathez shooter supply has them in stock, I believe. Look on versa-pods website for model no. I got one a few weeks ago and it is alright. I think it was about 80 bucks shipped.

hmmmm looking on the website this looks very promising. 5-7" adjustable priced at basically 100 + shipping after buying the pic rail adaptor from natchez. This may be the one!

Re: shortest bipod?

Wheel,
Harris (at least mine) have a roll pin holding the feet onto the tubes. Shouldn't be hard to remove, but you will need a method of drilling the tubes to get the feet back on, AND the bigger issue, is on the 6-9" models the feet touch the upper tubes at the lowest 6" level. So, cutting length off the extensions won't do anything for the minimum length, only the maximum length.
So, unless you can want to spend alot of time on redoing the upper tubes (the ones with the hardware on them that the lower extensions slide into), then hopefully the 5" versapod will work for you.
