Unless I'm missing something....
I feel like he wasn't shot enough.
But I suppose the threat had stopped....
Dad was a bad shot....
Heck I don't know. I hope he doesn't have a civil case now.

The story is terribly written.
The video....priceless.
"Next thing I know... he's shot "
Dude, you did a good piece of work, no need to act like it was an accident.

Good shoot. Mr. Bracey did his job as a father protecting his wife and child. And even before he managed to get his hands on his gun, he showed no fear or hesitation in the face of the threat and launched on the intruder with any improvised weapon that he could find.

I would not be too harsh on him for not being a perfect shot. This was obviously an adrenaline charged situation where it was pure fight or flight. The fact that Mr. Bracey was able to connect some of his shots with the deranged assailant, without collateral damage to innocent bystanders, all while he was totally unprepared, is worthy of praise enough. Who could guess what could have happened to the child if she had been home alone?

I would definitely recommend the father to get a lot more range time and maybe take a few reality based firearm courses. Those will not automatically turn someone into a trained gunfighter, but they will do a lot of good in preparing you, mentally and physically, for such scenarios.

Does this look like the home owner?

My first CHL instructor/examiner made sure to tell us- shoot till its empty. So as I was instructed by the great state of Texas- if that ever happens they are going to have a lot of rounds in them. Thats my story and Im sticking to it.

Don't know who he was, but that is asinine. Shoot till the threat is neutralized, anymore and you're putting yourself in legal jeopardy. Not to mention the fact that if you empty into the guy standing in your kids room, you're screwed when his buddy steps out of the shadows.....

Go until your empty

Call cops 5 min later then you should

If there is going to be a story make sure it’s only yours

Friend used to be a DA

Hope that sicko lives in unimaginable pain the rest of his life.

It was tongue in cheek. Although she actually did say that. And yes- 42 rounds of 5.56 would be a bit much. Ive always assumed she said it as legal cover so everyone there could say thats how they were instructed if ever questioned about how many rounds went down range if some jackwagon DA wants to make a thing of it.

Biggest mistake for the homeowner was talking to the press without consulting an attorney.

I like all the bravado about shooting the BG in the head. Very entertaining. However, in real life we don’t take head shots. Center mass will flip the switch just as fast as a head shot.
