Hi, we are a composite rifle stock manufacturer from Ireland and were planning on visiting the shot show this year.
What are the chances that the show will go ahead this year?
We have been warned that there are some bogus websites selling entry tickets, which website is legit? The websites we checked out seemed to be around 600US for entry which seemed a bit steep. Roughly what are the costs for the entry tickets?

It is a "Trade Show".... Companies that have booths there give out free passes to prospective customers and people they do business with. So, many people get in at no charge. It is all a business tax write off here in America. The cost of doing business.
 
750 bucks per person is fucking robbery.

The last year I went I think it was $150 to get in and I thought that was ridiculous.

I heard a rumor of the booth prices and no clue how a small time guy does it without destroying most of their profit for the year.


Seems the organizers are trying to kill the show.
 
Unless that 750$ includes an ''escort'' its an absolute robbery.

Ah... I would GUESS that nobody is paying the $750 price...

MOST people are buyers... whether they are actual buyers or not is not for me to determine.

I think the $150 is what I paid last time I went in 2014 or 2015 as a buyer... so prices havent really changed.

Ever been to any trade show ? 90+% of visitors are ''riffraff'' pretending to be trade visitors, I guess if you only really had the trade visitors on trade shows the floor space costs would be through the roof , as ticket sales would not put much $$ in the bank.

That is about right. We had a rifle stock stand at the IWA Germany for three years in a row. Had 4 staff on our stand and most of the time busy talking to... 90% private individuals. Often the real trade customers did not make it to the stand. We stopped exhibiting and now rather go directly to selected stands and meet those we want to.
Recon we fall between Non exhibiting manufacturer and buyer,. To manufacture you also need to buy bits and pieces.

Recon one is set up differently at a trade show than at an end user show.
I heard SIG Sauer pulled out of shot show, is that right? Any others pulled out? Anyway we are almost through with flights from Ireland/ covid test bookings and have confirmation that we can attend. Looking forward.

$750 isnt bad. Ad most audio shows its $3500 and up for a booth/room.

If thats just to walk in the door and look around...fuck'em.
 
Beretta has pulled out of the show so none of the brands that are under their umbrella will be there (Benelli, Burris, Steiner, Sako, Tikka etc.).

This will probably be what happens with many of the large exhibitors. I will be surprised if the show goes on this year.
 
I want them to cancel it, and I have appointments on the books right now, but it is looking like I am not gonna go...

it's lame and has been for easily 5 years now, plus more than 20 companies have bailed

Shot needs a revamp, it's a bad way of doing business, it's outdated, it's really just a drunk fest if you do it right, which I can do home.

Fuck Shot in its current form, I have a hotel, holding off on the plane, but man I think I am gonna skip it even though I have appointments I can attend

Shot is not until the 18th

Just lots of companies saying no one will man the booth, because of how stupid the Show is, they don't want to lose their seniority so they are keeping the booth but they will be empty

The show hasn't started yet, Dallas Safari is this week

Might have to hold back on flight bookings. Hope they have the decency to pull the plug in good time.

Any news on the Safari Club convention which starts a day later than Shot? Was hoping to get to that for a day also.

Generally in our parts of the world they relaxed a few things Covid related. Our kids are booking Skiing holidays in Austria like mad as they missed out last year.

SHOT has gotten gayer and gayer every year since YouTube was invented.

Last I went was 2015. Overly crowded with loser ass YouTube influences trying to suck their way into free shit.

Absolute waste of time.

Half the shit announced at SHOT isn’t even available until the following year, lol.

I haven't been in a couple years but pre-covid, the Dallas Safari Club show was a great place to see all kinds of cool stuff.
Lots of gun stuff but even more camping and outdoor stuff & folks from all over the world showing you places you could go and animals you could kill.

They chose not to bring them. Didnt have any extras or some such non sense...

SHOT is(or was) arguably the biggest gun show on the PLANET, is basically the same week forever, and they couldnt plan it out to have any guns built up for SHOT... dumbest shit ever... but from Larue...not shocking LOL... He is the John Hennessey of the gun world.

I'm on the fence myself. Best part of Shot is seeing friends I have made over the years. I bet this weekend alot more will bail. They just don't want to loose the money. If you haven't had Covid you will after Shot. My command got crushed in the past 3 weeks.

Back home in Ireland after our first Shot show. Possibly the best show we were ever at. Why? we met the people we really wanted to meet. Also met Europeans that we didn't meet for two years due to shows being cancelled in Europe. Yes quite a few companies did not show up that were on our list. Then again other unexpected connections were made. I think those that stayed away lost out this time. According to those we talked to the quality of the show was good, quantity of people down. The Safari convention was a nice bonus on the last day.
