I have a Sig 226 22LR conversion and it jams a lot. I was told by a Sig Gun Tech to use only a CCI ammunition. Any other alternative to fix this problems?

What ammo do you use? How many rounds have you put through it? Mine took around 70-100 rounds to break in. I've only used higher velocity, copper plated stuff. Winchester super-x sucks w/ mine, it clearly doesn't have the punch even though it's advertised w/ a higher fps than the aguila I've also use. Mine works 100% with aguila superextra 1250fps, cci velocitor, and cci stingers. That's all I've used. I also make the slide nice and slick with clp.

I have a P220 with 22lr conversion. It jams a lot with slower ammo, or with shooters with limp wrists. The Winchester super-X high velocity ammo runs 100%. Other high velocity ammo is almost 100%. Bulk Federal and Winchester, now that it's broken in, are maybe 80-90%. Remington gold bullets will jam 100% of the time, won't feed.
I have been using bulk Federal and Remington. I'm going to switch to CCI when I go back to the range. Appreciate you guys advised.
Good info to know guys... Thanks for posting this. I was about to buy a 226 and was going to get the threaded barrel conversion to run a can on. My intent was to only run subsonic ammo through it. Obviously, this is not such a good idea! Does anyone know if the threaded conversion may have a different recoil spring to allow for lower velocity ammo? This kinda defeats the purpose for me.
I have not heard of a different (weaker) recoil spring available for the P226 .22lr conversion, but that is not a bad idea if you find one that fits. I have not needed it though.
I do not hear a big difference between CCI high-velocity and Aguilla subsonics on my P226. If you are using subsonics, I would recommend shooting without the suppressor and checking to make sure that none are keyholing.
Another recommendation: the grooves in the P226 conversion (where it mates with the frame) have the same slightly abrasive finish as the rest of the slide. I used a Dremel and polishing paste to polish these grooves smooth. It is much better in terms of not wearing material off of the frame. You will be able to feel the difference in those grooves by running your fingernail along it.

I bought a non-threaded 22lr conversion for my P220 (for California use) and later a threaded barrel (for non-California use). It runs fine with a SS Sparrow suppressor. I haven't chrono'd anything but I think that even the "high velocity" ammo is still subsonic out of the short pistol barrel.
My P220 conversion has a threaded barrel and works great with Federal and Winchester bulk. With a can sounds great, too.

They have replacement guide springs and rods for those folks who 'are' having issues, though.
I want the follower mod to try out the unique way of causing a last-shot-slide-hold-open... And, until someone makes a steel-body mag, it's advisable to hold the mag latch depressed, insert mag and keep the bottom of the mag flush/inserted, then release the mag latch. Use the same amount of care when ejecting the mag. It minimizes the scraping wear on the plastic mag latch slot from the metal latch. Apparently, once that gap gets worn/widened, it'll cause more feed problems.
It feels weird to "baby" a magazine, but I've treated mine that way since day one, and I've had no issues. I just want the upgrade kits for the extra capacity and slide hold open.

I've been running the full line of Sig Pro products in my 229 Classic since I bought it. You'll love them.
a .22lr pistol that only shoots 1 or 2 brands of .22lr ammo? As long as it shoots all high velocity ammo I would be ok with it. Being picky about which high velocity ammo is ridiculous and sounds like a poor design. A sig with a conversion was in my near future, but now I feel like I need to do more research.

My 229 kit runs about 70% on bulk pack Remington "Golden Bullet"
It's mediocre but this is also the last 50 or so rounds of the case of GB's that I bought and it has universally been junk ammo in everything that I used it through. It has been about 3 years to kill off this case just because I hate shooting it so much.
I only have about 100-120 rounds through this upper, I'm going to try Fed bulk pack 36gr HV's and some CCI's after that. I have some Aguila super extra to try after that, I really hope it likes the Federal bulk pack though.

Updated info on Sig Pro, evidently he's out of business. Website still up but no response to e-mails. I was reading on a Sig forum and he dropped off the radar after he pocketed a lot of people's money without sending the goods. They show around page 7 of the an inexpensive way to alter your own mags with readily available and inexpensive parts.
On another note, I learned something regarding the FTF issue. Sig makes their own oil and since switching to that and keeping it well lubed (with oil NOT grease). I'm now shooting sub sonic ammo exclusively. I have the occasional jam still but at about a 1% rate. If I see an increase, I just dab some oil and I'm good to go.
