Today i shot a sig 552 22lr vary nice gun, I was hitting a gong at roughly 100y and all in all the gun fell nice, it had nice weight to it and every thing just felt as if it was a real 556, how ever i dont see many after market railed forarms or any of that.

I have not shot a gsg-5 gun but have held them and they feel pretty heavy as well... and with so many after market parts out their and suppressor adaptors iam just reall not sure which one would be the better of the two

your thoughs on eaither of these ?

I have both. The 522 feels more like the read deal to me (I also have the real 556 version too) and it operates pretty much flawlessly. The negs are mags that are too tight in the magwell, mags that are too tough to load, but they are extremely well made and should last a long time unless the lips crack.

The GSG runs on most ammo pretty good, operates and feels like the real mccoy..or at least a semi version and the mags are easy to load but lower cap.

I like both, but if I had to pick just one...hmmmm....probably the Sig.

I also have both. I thought the stock and forearm was alittle too sloppy on the 522. The folding stock detent is ill. The noted mag issues bother me. I have other .22s that also run the same mags and do not want to modify them.

The GSG will also support a folding or telestock. The 522 is obviously more prone to a optic. If I had to dump one the Sig522 would go before the GSG-5. It functions great and I enjoy shooting it more. I think I have had one FTE issue so far with cheap Rem goldies.

The GSG in a PDW/SBR format would be way cool.

i ammased a few 22 clones and conversions; "trainers", AK, AR, 1911, G17. The Glock 17/22 and the GSG are my two favs. I'd like to try that S&W 22 AR.

I think the sight issue with the GSG could be huge depending on your utility. No idea on how the fit is with the aftermarket GSG-5 rails. The 522 is probably a better fit for more range and versitility. Although I don't have any issue with the GSG for practical accuracy. I was skeptical at purchase. It shoots/functions great for what it is. I have a folder for it but have been reluctant to install it as I like plinking steel with the HK fixed stock.

You might have to get both.

love my gsg5sd. TONS of accessories for it, from airsoft to dedicated gsg5 sites. Customer service is top-notch. Honestly cannot go wrong with the CS from ATI. Get on the gsg5 forum on arfcom and you will see what I mean. Its under the armory section. Free parts replacement and you actually talk to the guy in charge. Also, my gsg5 eats all the bulk pack .22 I can find. If you keep it clean, it will run. The gsg5 mags are expensive so i buy the promags. again, as long as i clean her, she shoots. could not be happier with my gsg5. it is honestly the most fun plinker i have. love it. also, there is a whole new line-up coming at the end of this month from ati (the importer for GSG). check em out. i would not hesitate to give my money to them again except for one thing; HK is coming out with their .22 rifles this summer.

i have read hk will come out with an mr/22lr and an mp7-22lr if that is the case i will get the mp-7

i do love the gsg i think its only fault is the silly lower, id rather one with pictograms other then that i really think the gsg is awsome but again i have only held it not shot.

i shot the sig today and it was on the money

Out of all of my 22lr clones, the AK47 is my fav. Utterly reliable with anything fed thru it, accurate, feels like the real deal, and just plain fun. When I take them all out, it tends to get used the most by other shooters.

Took a couple rifles to the range today including my GSG5. Put 1100 rounds of WalMart Federal Bulk pack (15 bucks for a box of 550) thru her. Yes it sucked to load. I have 6 mags, 5 promag and 1 GSG mag. Zeroed in a new sight with 2 mags and then let fly with the rest. All rapid fire and failure to stop drills. Love my little GSG5!!!! Had 6 failure to fires in all the shooting. 3 were mag feed issues. 2 were because it was dirty as hell (after a quick brush and wipe and application of EWL it ran again beautifully), and the last one I have no idea why. It just wouldnt go bang. Anyways, it is a point and shoot weapon. I put the little red dot where I want the round to go and it does. No, it's not a .0000001 MOA gun like alot of the guns on here, but it does pretty decent on accuracy. At 50 yards I can put a rapid fire string in the head of a Hajji target. Good enough for me. Another good afternoon of shooting. Zombies beware.

Toss up. My Sig has been reliable so far. But they do have a little problem with the E-clips breaking. Mine hasn't broke yet, but it is loose.

I think the thing the GSG-5 has going for it, it comes with iron sites. The Sig, you have to buy sites extra, at a considerable expense.

Alright, one last thing to add to this thread. I recently took my GSG-5SD out again for another 1100 round session. Near the end of the zombie-repelling practice, I was pulling the charging handle to the rear and it snapped off in my hand. I finished the session and went home. Immediately emailed Christopher Marzahn the Import Administrator\CSR for the ATI. I told him my story and he sent a new charging handle out that day on their dime. Got it 2 days later. I now have 13200 rounds thru mine and plan on putting alot more thru her.

I own one of both, as far as supressed the Sig way out shines the GSG . The Sig comes set up from factory with 1/2v28 threads which makes can usage a lot easier The GSG you have to get an adapter to thread onto its barrel sleeve and unless you loctite it on the damn things nearly everytime come off stuck inside your can and are highly prone to crossthreading themselves.Plus the adapters aren't cheap! count on around 50.00 extra plus the price of the can. Also the GSG doesn't cycle worth a flip on sunsonic ammo, the Sig is just like it's big brother it will chew up and spit out anything you feed it . The Gemtec Outback is an excellent unit as well as the AWC Stalker .

The GSG-5 that I have cycles fine with Remington subsonics. I've only shot a small amount of CCI subsonics, and they cycled fine as well. However, in the owners manual it states: "The .22 ammunition spectrum ranges from very light loads for single loader guns to sport load, utility load and on through to high speed rounds. Unfortunately, however, it is not possible to adjust a semi-automatic gun to all loads. We have therefore decided to make an ajustment to the loads that have priority for use with the GSG-5 which are <span style="font-weight: bold">high quality utility and high-speed rounds."</span>

Hey everyone, I just picked one of these little GSG-5's used from a buddy of mine and cannot wait to take it out today. I never really took a very close look at them but knew I would eventually acquire one as I am a bit of a .22 junky. What do you guys think the fate of these little guns will be now that HK sued the hell out of them? Will they become that prize collector worth a mint or just another gun fading into the dust of time?

I got the sig522 swat. wanted the quadrail. Gun is spot on, and will eat anything. I have shot over 1k rounds of nasty/dirty remington good bulk, without any problems other than failure to fire. It hit, just the crap ammo didn't fire.

I have a Sig522 SWAT. It originally came as a set with Sig's 5.56.

Sig went to great lengths to mimic the centerfire, including faux gas system.

A trigger you either love or hate. Shoots remarkably well and reliable. Heavy for offhand shooting. Not much of an aftermarket but there's not a lot that I would want to change. I don't believe Sig made these for many years.
