I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either the Nikon M-223 1-4x 20mm or the Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T 1-3x 14mm? Which one is better? Are they even comparable, and which would you chose for the SIG 556 that is currently stock, but will have the Magpul UBR stock, KNS precision pivot pin, reworked trigger (don't want to spend $200 on a jewel), and a Griffon charging handle? I am building this weapon for up close to around 200 yard max... I'll build an AR-10 next for farther out fun so thats why I want the 1-3 or 1-4x. Mostly just target shooting, but some coyote/ hog/ prarie dogs will likely have their lead deficiencies resolved with this one too. Thanks in advance!

Re: SIG 556 optics..

I would be looking at a LaRue Tactical mount and either an Aimpoint Comp ML3 or Acog for the 556. Your 556 is capable of much farther distances than you are stating. Personally, I would use your 556 for farther shooting, and build your AR for closer shooting. The twist rate in the barrel of the 556 is condusive to shooting out to 600yrds or more. I have both of these sites and switch them back and forth between my M1A, 556, and Bushmaster.

Re: SIG 556 optics..

I have a Leupold MK4 CQT that is mounted on my M4. I do like it and have used it for quick action drills and find it easy to use and optically clear. The illumination is very bright and user friendly. I have not used the Nikon so I don't have anything to compare it with. Sometimes you can find the CQT's on sale or someone on here is selling it at a good price. I do find that I have it mounted on the last rail toward the rear as when I was using the magnification I was getting the tunnel effect. It works fine where I have it now.
