OH
I have been looking for a P239 in .40. What makes this little piece so desirable? I have not been able find one for a decent price anywhere. It seems as though the people that do have them will not let one go. I carry a G27 but am looking to expand my horizons a little. I understand a little about the Sigs because of the nice little P6 that sits on a shelf in the gun cabinet. Any help explaining the in and outs of a P239 would be appreciated.

Re: Sig P239

I would honestly recommend to try to find a used P239 that was either made in Germany, or has "SIGARMS" written on the slide/frame. The guns marked "SIG SAUER" are post-Cohen era guns, which is when Sig started cutting corners and putting out junkier guns.

IMHO, the P239 in .40S&W isn't that desirable of a pistol, it's width, and general size is just about on par with a G23, and it costs more, weighs more, and carries half as many bullets.

Re: Sig P239

Thanks Jim for the good info. A few things I did not think of. Since I already have a G27, may look at finding a G23 so that I can use a few of my G23 hi-cap mags that I have for my G27. The cost was one issue that I was having a hard time getting past and pulling the trigger on one.

Re: Sig P239

I use a 239 SAS as my primary Conceal Carry weapon.
Couldn't be happier with it.
It is a very reliable weapon that is accurate, easy to conceal and still has the same ergonomics of a full size pistol.
Nothing that the Glock doesn't bring to the table, but I like having a stiffer full length trigger pull of the Sig DAK + restrike capability in CC weapon.
Just peace of mind more than anything else.

Re: Sig P239

I too carry a Sig 239, but mine is a 9mm, and a German Import. A local company brought in about 50, and they flew out! I happen to get one of them that came up on Sigforum. I have carried everything under the sun, and when I want to go light, I reach for the P239, and my Galco leather. I forget it is there quickly, and being a single stack, it is thin. A Glock 27 is a great little gun, had 2 of them, but I shoot the Sig much better. JPG

Re: Sig P239

The Galco Sky-Ops holster is a great way to carry the 239 by the way.

I have yet to find a tuckable that just makes the pistol disapear quite like the Sky Ops.
Granted, Milt Sparks and other clones do a great job, the clips are always very visible.
The Sky Ops is unique in that the clip does not contact the outside front surface of your gun belt.

Since it is only retained by one clip, I would strongly recomend investing in a quality belt from http://www.thebeltman.net

Worn mine almost every day for over three years now and it works as well as when it was new.
If you are in a hurry / budget, the Blackhawc CQC belts are inexpensive and get the job done.
Not in the same league as the "Belt Man" belts though.

Another effective cary meathod with the 239 is the 511 Holster Shirt.
(I recomend the V-Neck over the Crew Neck)

They are very good for vehicle use and when used in combination with 511's Concealed Carry Shirts there is little to no chance that you will be visible.

(Except by other users of the setup anyway.)

Just thought that I would share what has worked for me.
Personally I have yet to find a better Concealed Carry solution.
