I bought a factory flat dark earth 226 a several months ago.

I finally took it out for the first time to play with it today.

After shooting I took it apart to clean it and found that the back half of the recoil spring had been painted day-glo orange.

Now I've owned quite a few Sigs but never had one with an orange recoil spring. Is this something new? Does it mean anything?

Re: Sig Question

I've had'em painted blue before, but never orange.

I've always had Sig 9mm's before though. What caliber?

Maybe its a spring weight issue?

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I'm sure someone will set you straight soon.

Best-

Re: Sig Question

They are all color coded for spring rate/weight.Seems this is mainly for the factory assemblers so they dont put the wrong spring in. I say this because after a few good cleanings the color comes off rather easy.
