For anyone not forced to use iron sights the article from the USAMU might scare off all but aspiring HP rifle shooters. The illustrations make it appear that shooting with irons is more difficult than with an optic. The illustrations also allude to relationships between the ears of the front sight and the target. The only relationship which is reliable is the one between the tip of the front sight and the target. Nevertheless, when aligned properly, iron sights are less deceptive than an optic; and, have been proven to be as capable as an optic, except for targets which cannot be seen without some magnification. Precision with irons only requires development of picture memory. The word "only" however is bigger in this context than might be expected.
