Anyone have any experience with one of these?

Sightron S-TAC 2.5-17.5x56

Would be going on a 308 bolt gun shooting 175gr tmks. Looking for the best option at or around the $1k mark.

They are nice scopes. The glass is quite good, the reticle is thin, but otherwise excellent. They tend to track very well. The illumination is good, only the floating dot is illuminated.
They are SFP and the large objective requires very high mounting. If using a chassis or adjustable stock, not a big deal.
If the capped turrets would have been available when I bought mine, I would have gone that route.

How far will you be shooting? What type of targets (steel, paper, hunting animals, etc)

80% of the time, 200yd, but I am trying to take at least one or two classes a year that stretch out to 1000 yard. I shoot paper/steel, no hunting use.

I could have sworn this scope was FFP?

Rifle is in a magpul hunter stock, I'll check and see how high the rings I have now are.

No, SFP. (I own one).
There is also no zero stop. They really are a nice scope, and they focus down to 10 yards, but the 5 mils per rev and lack of zero stop will make shooting to 1000 less enjoyable.
I would really recommend the XTR II or PST II. They are just above the 1000 dollar mark and really perform well.

You COULD wait another week or so and take a hard look at the new Nikon Black FX1000 series. Make sure it is the FX, as they are FFP. They sure seem to be alot of scope for the money
