The scope im wanting

I've been looking at that scope and really like it. we have the 6-24 model on the .22-284 that me and my father are building and i like it but im curious as to what you guys think of them?

with a $500 budget and the intent to coyote hunt, p-dog shoot, and paper punching with a .223 is this a decent scope?

just to get me started then as i get older and get more money i can upgrade.

Re: Sightron scopes?

what is the difference between 1/4 and 1/8? wouldnt the 1/8 be more precise? sorry thats just one thing ive never really learned is what the difference is

Re: Sightron scopes?

sightrons are great scopes if they have the features you want.

my first scope was an S1 3-9 with the mil-dot reticle. It was the cheapest mil-dot I could find. Scope was like 105 new then. I think you can still find them for under 135 now. The knobs werent the greatest but they tracked perfect and the mils were accurate---at least more accurate than I could use. That scope is still going strong on my brothers rifle now and I have purchased a few others over the years as well.....

1/8th clicks are more precise but that also means you have to dial twice as much for the same dope......kind of a pain in the butt on a hunting rig.

It's more precise than necessary for most of us. In my mind that's more for serious target competition.

It gives fewer moa per full revolution, and a lot of cranking when you start going long.

And honestly i dont need the mil dots I doubt ill really ever use them but there is something about them that i like not sure what it is but theres something that just draws me to them

Re: Sightron scopes?

Sightron makes a great scope. I really liked the one I had. The glass is really nice and the tracking is spot on. They are great provided they offer the features you desire. I just wish they has a mil/mil model.

Sightron makes a hell of a good product and I own a couple, great warranty but unlikely you will ever need it.I would use a vendor here on SH to buy from though.Scott at Liberty Optic will give you a much better deal if you call him, shipping is free and fast too.

As a side note,a 22-284 ? Holy crap!! Do you guys own a barrel making business?

haha no the gun started out as a .22-250 but he wanted a wildcat round... i guess a .24-284 or a .25-284 wasnt wild enough for him. he at times today wonders why he ever changed it he kind of wishes it was still the 250 but its a great conversation piece!!
