Well Gentlemen. I got my Sightron SIII 6-24x50mm LRMD yesterday from Liberty Optics and I have to say I am dumbfounded on how in the hell did I get so much scope for so little money. I am completely sold on these things. A friend of mine brought over his Nightforce and his Loopie to compare and I cant believe the optical quality in these Sightrons. The only thing missing from these scopes are FFP and Tactical Turrets and trust me when Sightron decides to make a full tactical version I will be inline to buy. As far as the comparison between the three scopes I believe the Sightron won the optical clarity and quality part. Tracking...well the tracking on the Sightron is spot on...no complaints. We even did an at dusk test and at 100yds we could see bullet holes a tad better in the Sightron than we could in the other two scopes. No offense to Nightforce and Leaupold because they are two outstanding scopes but it is nice that someone like Sightron has come along and given the consumer a good quality scope for a little less than you would spend for the other two brands.

I would also like to take the time here to thank Scott @ Liberty Optics for making this a very smooth and easy transaction. Scott is a fantastic business man. And what I mean by that is that Scott will go out of his way to make you happy before and after the sale. He even signs a hand written thank you in his reciepts. Thanks again Scott for all your hard earned efforts.

Re: Sightron SIII LRMD & Liberty Optics

Wow. I heard Sightron was using good glass but to be better than a NF is impressive. I am looking forward to a range report. Thanks again for the post and a real world comparison of Sightron-NF-Leupold. Maybe you could the include through the scope shots at the same magnification of the Leu-NF-Sightron.

Re: Sightron SIII LRMD & Liberty Optics

I'm also sold on the sightron quality/price package. I have an SII 4-14 MD on my 18" grendel, and 2 of their SII 3-9x42 HHRs on hunting rifles.

If they were to make a Mil/Mil FFP witha TMR or MP8 style reticle I would sell all my IORs and replace them with sightrons.

Re: Sightron SIII LRMD & Liberty Optics

Will do. Im not the only person to say the glass is slightly clearer than NF. Course both NF and Sightron are both Japenese glass too. Do a search on google and here on the Hide and you will get some pretty strong feedback on the Sightrons glass. I did quite a bit of research on the Sightrons before I purchased and it paid off tenfold. Again my only gripes was not having FFP, Tactical Turrets and mil adjustments...other then that I cant complain one bit. When Sightron does decide to do this Im sure the price will adjust up into NF and Ior's range though.

Re: Sightron SIII LRMD & Liberty Optics

I've been singing the praises of SIIIs for years now. These things are a great value. If they would offer a better selection of reticles and Mil/Mil or MOA/MOA setups I'd have one on every rifle I own.

Re: Sightron SIII LRMD & Liberty Optics

I like them too, but one thing to try as a comparison to NF is to crank the reticle up or down about 15-20 moa and then compare the clarity to a NF similarly adjusted. Some people seem to think you lose clarity with the Sightron when not optically centered. I've not had a chance to do this with mine but plan on trying it.

Re: Sightron SIII LRMD & Liberty Optics

I have the same scope as you bought. And I think the same as far as S3 vs NF. I have a 8-32x56 nightforce and I like the S3 better. I have not noticed any lose of clarity when moving the elevation up or down..

If I were to buy another 1700+ dollar scope, Id be looking at either a Zeiss or 2 Sightrons..

Re: Sightron SIII LRMD & Liberty Optics

I did an up down elevation test this evening with no difference in clarity. Thats the first Ive heard of that. Sightron must be doin somethin right...vendors cant even keep them instock or they are on backorder.

Is it true that the eye relief does not change with magnification? That would also be a Big plus.

True. I didnt notice any eye relief changes at power adjustments.

Re: Sightron SIII LRMD & Liberty Optics

Brad,

Thanks for the kind words! The issue with the SIII LR this year has been supply - the quality of the glass is the best I've seen for under a grand and tracking and mechanical integrity have always been a hallmark of Sightron.

BTW, we have a few 6-24x50 mildot in stock, shipped for $739 for Hiders.

I'm glad you are pleased with your purchase. Thanks for being a great customer.
