Sinclair Priming Tool problems

I have been using the Sinclair stainless priming tool for years. Great tool. But lately it will not hold the primer seating depth constant.
The threaded shaft controlling the seating depth has a stiff compound on the tread to offer resistance to moving. This compound no longer holds the adjustment in place. I'm not sure what to replace it with that won't be a permanent lock.
Any experience with this or great ideas?

If you search you can probably find the real stuff that companies put on the threads to keep them snug but removable over many uses. I use permanent Loctite when stuff like you described happens. I clean the threads and put thin layer Green Loctite (permanent) on the male threads and let it dry completely (a couple of days). It does not chalk up like the blue does. Not as good as the factory stuff, but it is cheap since I have it on the shelf.

Good idea. I have red loctite on hand. Maybe that will work too.
