Looking for a source of sling swivel studs and backers like seen on this GAP rifle.

Those "backers" are known as T-nuts. McMillan would likely sell you a few, and studs to match, for one source.

"T" nuts are available at Home Depot and Lowes.

Just a correction, McMillan uses 10-32 X 5/16" backers. Home Depot sells 10-24 X 5/16".
