Gunsmithing Smithy Lathe Mill combo?

Anyone have one of those Smithy built lathe, mill, drill combos?

We are crunched on space in our shop, and I was thinking this would be a good option.

Ive heard they dont do either job well.

i have never used one either but i've heard the same thing as keith. there are too many compromises made to fit both tools into one so they end up not doing either task good.

I agree, do not throw your money away on that for doing precision rifle work.

If you are looking for a smaller lathe take a look @ the Birmingham YCL1236 has a 1 1/2 in spindle bore. Works well for a small shop.

Don't bother with the Smithy,I have one , mill/lathe combo . I don't use it much ,only for stock work or cleaning up bedding jobs ,other than that its not good for any precision work .

Smithy 3/1's are good for two things:

1. Anchors for small boats
2. Fish habitat once the anchor line rots and breaks.

Spend your money wisely by spending it once.
