I am new to snipershide. I will be shooting in this years SHC.
I just have a question about pistols. It appears that the rules say USPSA limited. Which would exclude optics.
Can I just get confirmation that the pistol component is iron sights only?
Secondly is the a pistol component to SHC thread?
Thanks

I would guess that @Lowlight judt doesn’t want people showing up with laser guided bullet hoses with giant flat screen TVs mounted on them. He prolly just wants people to show up with something they would actually carry (duty, edc, mil type).
Thank you for the reply.
So a sig p226 with a RMR, would likely fit. As it is carry optics on an otherwise traditional duty firearm.

Limited means no optics. RMR is an optic. Not allowed.

I am using a Sig P320 X5 because it comes with 4 mags and target sights. Lots of options and your 226 will be plenty adequate. You wont be hitting tiny dots at 50 yards. Will be reasonable steel plates at avg distances. Iron sights are plenty good.

GL and have fun!

Hence my request for clarification. There are pictures of people with optics, and yes I know the USPSA limited rules.
Sounds like I won’t bring my sig, and will bring something with iron sights. Thank you for your time everyone. It is going to be a very fun and interesting match. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Think CZ 75 TS or lesser type pistol. If this year's Cup is like those in the past, the pistol component of a stage is just to break things up and/or add a level of mental complexity, rather than demonstrate prowess with a handgun. Just clear the targets as specified so as to transition to/from your long gun.

Besides...it makes the stages more fun ("more gooder" as a German friend of mine used to quip)...

Totally not stressed by the pistol portion. And looking forward to it. I have been transitioning over to carry optics, and my most duty pistol which is my sig, and within the spirit of the Cup has a carry optic. I have others, which are iron sights. I asked for clarification as I see people shooting carry optics in the pictures, and I have received a variety of responses. The technical rule response on limited does not allow for carry optics is probably the most clear. It will of course be interesting to see if this ends up being the case. It is my first trip to the SHC so, I am just coming to learn and have fun. The irony is that my iron site 9mm is a tanfloglio stock 2 extreme. Which meets the criteria for limited and production, but may not really be in the spirit of a duty pistol. I am probably over thinking things. Thanks again for your responses. Now to get my ATF form 6.

This is correct for USPSA rules but for the hide cup you can rock an RMR machined into the slide.

I ran an M&p pro core with Burris red dot the last 2 years and that was all good. The intent is no full blown race pistols, 9mm Super with c-more and fully compensated.

For example:

NOT OK:

Thank you. That is exactly the question I am asking. And exactly what I suspected may be the case. If you have need shooting SHC with your M&P pro with carry optics that is essentially what my sig is. My Tanfoglio, while it meets the definition, is not duty, though it could be. I totally get the desire to not see race guns. And open guns in particular.
