I just skimmed the article, but isn't she conflating fertility vs. the decision to become pregnant (or not)? Fertility is purely biological - the biological ability to become pregnant (or to impregnate, for men). What I got out of that article was purely about women's decisions on whether or not they want to become pregnant.
