My current set up is two 700’s one in 223 and one in 308. I would like to shoot a prs match. I shoot 185 bergers in the 308 and 69 smk in the other I use factory ammo in both for now. Both are in aftermarket chassis. What would be suitable to shoot a match in regards to other gear needed? I had ballistics app on my phone and bags.

A can do attitude, seriously. Make a date for a match enter call the Match Director and let him squad you with some guys that will help ypu out.

Whatever rifle you feel the best with dont worry about what class your in just shoot.

At a minimum

A rifle with a DBM
2 mags maybe 1 should be ok
Ammo for the match
Scope with turrets
Bipod
Data for your rifle or ask someone to build a kestrel profile for you

I’d like to run some PRS matches for fun here in North Carolina. I’ve got a .308 setup that would be sufficient. I’m much more into other action shooting sports, but it would be nice to get back out and do some precision LR shooting.

If you are in Ohio, there are several matches around the region. Rayners Range (south of Zanesville) hosts a regional PRS match first Sunday of each month. There are some hosted at Southington Hunt Club (near Cleveland) as well. North of you in Michigan, there is a series of matches at the Marksmanship Training Center in Lake City Michigan.

I shoot the Rayners matches (just show up at 730am on first Sunday of each month; 75-80 rounds + $30) and Lake City matches and will also be at a few of the Southington matches. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you want details.

Hope to see you on April 7th at Rayners. Very good matches for first timers. Super easy going.

I say grab either rifle and go. I just shot my first match with a box stock Savage Ashbury 308. I did not feel undergunned at all.
I even shot with a fixed 10X scope and it felt good.
There will be plenty of folks there to help you out. Just be careful, cause this bug bites HARD! lol
