I finally got my CZ 452 .22lr heavy barrel put together with a 20 moa rail. I went to the range yesterday and did some Chrono & ballistic program work. I got zero'd poa/poi at 25 yards. I was running out of light.

Just before dark, like a giggly little kid I ran back to the 400 yard line. I ran the dope, dialed the scope and loaded up the 5 round mag. I shot at a steel shiloutte. I hit it 5 for 5 with a witness. Now that was fun!!!

All I had to shoot was Federal automatch. (best of the "bulk box" if you ask me.)
I can't wait to try W.Match

WEEEEeeeeeee!

Re: So it begins!!

what scope?

my rifle with maxed out ele (33 moa) and holding 7 mils only reaches 350. guess i need new scope.ha..

regardless, very cool. Im sure pics WILL follow...(not a question

Re: So it begins!!

That is great news Tres. I had begun to wonder where you were in the build and was about to send you a PM. I don't need pics, I believe you. I know exactly how capable a CZ can shoot. I have seen plenty of pics that simply were unbelievable so to me a pic is about useless.......but I would like to see your new setup

Remember the 12th of March will be the TSC match at Conover NC. Give me a shout if you want to sign up.

Re: So it begins!!

Thanks guys.

I have a 20MOA DIP base with Burris ZEE rings witht he offset inserts to add in even more slope in the mounting system. I have the new BSA mil/mil FFP scope. (Jury is out on the scope- have not got to do tracking tests yet) but the scope does have 25 mils of elevation! (Plus 10 more on the reticle.)

I'll get back to ya with more results and pics.

Pl8,

I for sure want to shoot the match. Keep me posted.

Re: So it begins!!

I will give Apache308 a holler and tell him to put you on the list. I believe our attendance cap will not need to be implemented at all as rumour suggests we will have 2 banks of targets ready to go March 12th. If you can go ahead and get your dope for 57,112,163 and 210yds. Hope you can make it over.

Re: So it begins!!

I have allways been told that if you have a gun, even if it's not ideal for the comp you want to shoot, and as long as it passes rules and regulations, that you should go out and shoot it. So if you're comfortable with your manhood, and your gun passes inspection, go out and shoot

TresMon, damn fine shooting. I don't need proof of the shots either but I do need some CZ style gun porn

Re: So it begins!!

No kidding! I want a base too. I just can't bring myself to pay $150 for a USO base.

Re: So it begins!!

Tres - Be glad to have ya man and hope you can make it over this Saturday. Sounds like you have the CZ ready to go. I got you on the list. 41 shooters signed up so far. SR

Re: So it begins!!

VA Gent - Come on over if you're in the area. Bring the Cricket or just bring yourself. Either way you will enjoy the match. There are always a few extra guns around if you want to shoot the course. SR

Re: So it begins!!

that group is ridiculous. Why the hell didn't I get into rimfires sooner?!

<~~~~~~~ Rico "Green with Envy" of those 41 shooters. Dammit.

Re: So it begins!!

Thanks guys. Looks like my Wolf Match won't be delivered to me in time for the Conover match. I guess I'll be rolling up with my bulk box but it'll still be fun.

Re: So it begins!!

You know what, that's still nothing to be dissapointed about. You're shooting that rifle incredibly well with the ammo you currently have. Even if it is a bulk box
smile.gif
Who needs Wolf Match when you're pulling off ~3/10 MOA at 50 yards in "HARD rain"

I doubt you'll have much competition to worry about

Re: So it begins!!

If you come to the match and want to shoot Wolf I will give you a box. I know where some Wolf is and will be picking some up tomorrow.

Re: So it begins!!

Carter it's a full sized IPSC target.

Thanks Pl8 thats kind. But I don't have dope for it in my rifle, I better stick to what I have.

I can't believe it took 56 hours from time of order to time of ship from Sportsmans Guide. They lost my business from now on.

Re: So it begins!!

Any more update on that new BSA FFP scope? How did it track? I have not played with a FFP scope, but might consider shelling out 250.00 just to play with one and see how I like it.

I have owned a BSA scope before and did not have good luck with it. I have also heard too many horror stories.

Re: So it begins!!

The bsa scope seems to be doing pretty good for what it is. It seems to be returning to within .1 mil of zero each time. Side focus works great turrets zero etc. Click value is close enough to claimed. Optical clarity is good enough to do fine work at extended range. At max 14x image does not get milky but Image quality is adequate at best.

Summary: I'm well pleased with this scope thus far on a high quality .22. I'd trust it on a .223 but would wonder about it on a heavy recoiling rifle.
