So Many Options...?

I am in market for an accurate quality .22lr bolt action rifle. I have read numerous forum threads here and elsewhere and have learned a lot, here are my thoughts/statements/questions.

What one? A common post, so I will break it down a little.

I am leaning towards the Tikka T1x, but

Pros
  • 16” threaded barrel
  • Smooth action
  • Accurate
  • 10 round magazine
Cons
  • Stock

Ok, so I can replace the stock, with which one? The KRG Bravo? Although I like the Bravo, well, I really do not want my rifle to be a billboard for “KRG” (I hate clothes with giant logos too, I remove them). An Oryx has similar issues, but not quite as bad. Yes, these may seem petty, but if the stock said Tikka or Beretta, am all in… There are so many choices and I, as a novice, have no affinity towards any brand.

Then there is the scope (Athlon Midas TAC, Leupold VX Freedom, etc.???) and other things I am not very well versed in like scope rings and rails (which MOA --- what is MOA anyway?). There is the DIP 25 MOA, Area 419 30MOA, Tacord 30MOA (steel), Murphy Precision, etc.

And the bipod, Altas or Harris or ???

And the Suppressor, numerous choices, which one doesn’t reduce accuracy?

Then there is valid argument of why spend $1000+ for rifle and replacement chassis, just buy a “better” rifle to begin with? Ok, back to square one, which one?

There is the lower end Anschutz, CZ, Ruger Precision, Bergara, (Vudoo is out of the equation money-wise, no need to recommend), etc.

If the T1x had a ‘classic’ walnut Monte Carlo stock, I do not think this thread is being started. I do not technically need a “tactical” looking .22lr and would almost prefer a classic looking rifle, with the ability to add suppressor and bipod at times. And I really like the 10 round mag vs the more common 5 rounder. This set-up would primarily be for recreational use.

If I were to decide on the Tikka, is there a definitive listing of what I would also need/want to have to make it a ‘solid’ rifle? So, my ask is, what is a solid .22lr set up, for example:

Gun:
Chassis (if needed):
Rail:
Scope rings:
Scope:
Bipod:
Suppressor:
Anything else (besides lots of ammo):

Thank you.

It sounds like budget is not a concern.
I own a T1X and I agree with your lone concern being the stock.
Mine is topped with a Midas Tac, which I would recccomend to anyone.

Many guys will slightly mod a T3X chassis to fit their T1X, which could potentially solve your branding concerns.
Though I think that you will find basically any chassis will be branded.

And to littelpod's point, what are your needs? If all you intend to do is shoot <100 yds you won't need any MOA rails.
If so check out DNZ mounts, all my Tikka's wear them and I've been happy with them.

You forgot to mention the most important part - what exactly do you want to do with it? Bench rest? Varmint hunting? PRS?

Sorry, let me explain what I mean by recreational use.

This will be an all around rifle, used for target shooting (noncompetitive, other than bragging rights), off-hand, prone, bench, around trees, etc. Occasional hunting. Teaching the little ones proper gun skills and firearm safety.

Basically the (quality) rifle my kids remember having fun with when they where young...

If not going to go crazy into PRS and worry about balance, heavy weights, etc etc... I think the CZ 457 At-One model is the best just all around for having fun and configurability to shoot and teach your little ones to shoot.

Save more money, and just get rings that attach directly to the dovetail. I wouldn't worry about moa bases if you're shooting < 300 yards.
