I am starting to use a lot of the fancy gadgets and tools I bought for reloading. I have a 25-06 and am using Nosler custom brass, twice fired at this point. I used the sinclair chamber length gauges to measure and got 2.52. The brass when it was new was short-only 2.475. Trim to for 25-06 is 2.484and max SAAMI is 2.494. The brass is only 2.478 or so after 2 firings. I have not trimmed. I used a type s redding full length bushing die and bumped the shoulders back just slightly after the first reload.
What do these numbers mean? The measured length of my chamber seems long. The sinclair tool suggests leaving no less than .024 difference when trimming. I am at .049 difference. Is that bad? That doesn't cause head space issues but I am uncertain what effect this will have on perfprmance and brass life
