Trump gets no lawyer/client privilege......his lawyers office gets raided and than the lawyer gets the screws put to him to have him throw dirt on the client.

Now the sanctity of tax records appears not to apply to Trump.

When is the leaker of those documents, assuming they are real, going to be jailed?

I totally expected Trumps docs would say he paid zero.

Trump not paying taxes is not the issue......

Thats our tax code.......depreciation, losses, credits..........the code is designed for the swamp not us.

Trump would be a fool to pay more tax than he can hide.

How much does Amazon pay, GE, Google? Where are Hunters and Joes tax records?

I have no proof, but it would not surprise me if it was somebody in the IRS that "leaked" Trump's tax returns to the media.

Of course the timing is just about perfect for the standard "October Surprise" the Demonrats always like to pull to try to disillusion Republican voters.

Possibly what Nancy was talking about when she mentioned "other options", as in tell our not so deep cover operatives in the IRS to get with the leaking??

why are people giving him shit for not paying taxes?......fuck, who voluntarily pays more taxes than they have to?

hell, if you ask ANY democrat voter if they pay more taxes than they need to.....i guarantee you not one will say "yes".

    Who would you vote for.....

The guy saying he will raise your taxes while he has become a multi millionaire in public service?

    or

The guy that was already a multi millionaire prior to engaging in public service and had to fight his own party to get the middle class a tax cut.

These “Tax the rich” hypocrites! If they think the gov is underfunded they should be living in a refrigerator box , eating cat food and sending all their money to the government!

    Time for a flat tax.

Should appeal to progressives because it taxes the well to do more on the basis of amount paid.

Should end the shenanigans because it there is no fooling around - Net Income X .10 = amount you pay.

Should end the disinterested electorate that pays nothing, everyone will have skin in the game.

How much tax has he generated by creating businesses that pay people who than pay taxes?
And that is where people really do not understand business.

Many corporations pay little income tax, there a pass through organization. The employees pay income tax, the business pays property tax, generates income to the employees which pay the taxes. Then they go buy shit which generates sales tax, more property tax,....

Also a guy like Trump has fucking staggering liabilities. Millions and millions of dollars worth the assets that could go tits up. How many times do business have projects not work out and loose money on. Real estate is a brutal business to be in. One shitty year can wipe out years of profit if not compromise other assets, or if you even survive it.

Like others said what's the taxes paid on from the swamp rats?

The NYT story actually shows that Trump overpaid by $5.2M. The media running with this lie either didn't read it, or got their talking point orders and are running with it. But it's important to understand the truth so that you are not repeating the lie. Good info here-

Let's not forget President trump will have "given" the federal government 1.2 million dollars by not accepting a salary his entire first term.

I think he's required by law to take it, but he just passed it on through to different federal departments he wanted to donate too. HHS and parks department off the top of my head

I like the idea, but 10% wouldn't even come close to supporting the budget. How about a consumption based (sales) tax instead? Maybe a flat 35% coupled with drastic budget cuts? I'm a public CPA and I'd be out of a job, but I'd gladly find a new field if it were up to me. On a related note, think about this...

    1. You pay income tax at between 0% and 37%. You might also pay the net investment tax, additional medicare tax and a variety of other taxes and penalties depending on your income and your financial moves throughout the year. On the state side you pay anywhere from 0% to 13.3% Some cities, like NYC have income taxes as well.
    2. You pay 15.3% in FICA/Self employment tax on your first $140k. Half out of your pocket if you're an employee, half by your employer. It's all the same IMO.
    3. You pay sales tax on most things you buy at an average of around 7-8% depending on locality.
    4. Every time you stay in a hotel, take a flight, buy booze, tires, GUNS, tobacco, fill up your car... there are excise taxes built into the cost. Lots of misc. taxes too. IE, the "gas guzzler tax and the now defunct "shared responsibility payment."
    5. You pay property taxes. Here in NC we pay this on tangible property including our vehicles when we file our registration. Not just our homes.
    6. C Corporations (think publicly traded companies) pay 21% in income taxes. If you own shares, you pay another 0%, 15% or 20% from those investments depending on your income. Pre-Trump this was waaaay higher.
    7. After you've given half (maybe more?) of everything you produce to the government over your lifetime, if you're lucky enough to die with a huge nut, crippling estate taxes come into play at up to 40%.

If you've ever wondered why the left is so hell bent on disarming the public, think about the list above. Taxation in the US is a shit show of smoke and mirrors to keep people from figuring out how much they're actually paying. This is also why your employer withholds taxes for you. When you never see it, you're less likely to raise an issue. If the public ever figures this out I sure as hell wouldn't want to be a politician.

    I liked 9/9/9.

    God rest Herman's soul.

Make those that make money off us pay into the treasury, not all tarriffs are bad. It promotes Made in USA. I understand it gets passed on to the consumer when they buy an S&B.

Just getting the other 50% to pay something would help.

    Make the gov cut spending.

Fund our mil high tech and SOF/strategic cadre but make man power more dependent on reservist/select militia. Creates the benefit that people are actually invested in our military decisions while cutting costs and creates a ready reserve force to call up. Letting the Communists get away with destroying our mandatory service was part of the plan to destroy us. It will help 2A if everyone developed some gun training. Make chicks go to boot camp too, you know ERA.

He would have had my vote. The whole office was rallying behind him, though we didn't give his plan much of a chance of coming to fruition. I'll still back anyone who advocates for drastically simplifying the tax code. Until then, I'll continue to help other people play the game.

How much could we cut out of the budget if the IRS only had to do a check of taxes paid, and not audits and figuring out what the hell changed this year?

Seems we could cut a ton of jobs right there. Put them in the private sector where they're actually doing something rather than just costing the tax payers.

There would be crying, but we need some drastic changes if we want shit to work long term.

I think we need to cut all foreign aide also, take care of the home front. Add in limited welfare (on a sliding scale to encourage people to work out of the program, rather than bump against the cap) and cut the for-profit prison system out with no prison time for non-violent offenders.

Many ways to cut back, but I'll be damned if it doesn't appease some politician we can't make informed and necessary cuts.
