Rifle Scopes SOCOM II Ring Height

I've recently ordered a Vortex Viper PST 1-4 for my SOCOM II. The iron sights on the SOCOM II aren't very good so I'm not too concerned about not being able to use them. My question is this; what would the ideal ring height be for this combination?

I just installed a Nightforce Compact in 30mm Badgers the 0.82 height and they are perfect. I have the Sadlak Mount though and I think the SOCOMII was a rail system so that might change things??...

If you have the socom II without the extended rail that comes all the way back to the stripper clip guide then GG&G makes a cantilevered 30mm one piece mount specifically for the socom II. The tricky part with any M1A is getting the comb hight up to make for a good cheek weld.

Comb height is adjustable. Thanks to my iso-mat that is 20+ years old. I apologize for not mentioning in my original post that I have the extended rail version.
