I am wanting to mount an Aimpoint Comp ML3 on my Springfield Socom 16. What type of rail is on the Socom 16. Do i need Picatinny or Weaver style ring? Thanks for the help.

Re: Socom mount Question

The SOCOM 16 with just the forward weaver mount cut through the standard handguard, its not the full picatinney rail like the SOCOM II. The mount is made by Springfield and not VLTOR. Because its a weaver rail, single locking slot picatinney mount will be loose fitting because of the slot differences. Example a Larue mount will not fit tightly, so you would want an adjustable mount, or one with two (2) slots.

Re: Socom mount Question

On my Socom 16 I ran a Burris XTR low ring with an Aimpoint M3 and it worked great.

Witch doctor is right, the Socom mount is a little sloppy so the wider ring you use the better engagement you get on the rail. The XTR worked well.
