He brought it up today and said he was going to go register, the cutoff was 5OCT. So he won't be voting; he's in his 30's, he said this would have been his first time voting. I honestly don't care who he would have voted for, he's a minority, but I still think it would have been for Trump based on some of our conversations, but it's just as likely not given the world we live in.

When I thought about it for a while, I wondered how many other people are still under that rock, who never registered, never bother to vote, or never wanted to. I was sad to hear it was too late when he told me, he still registered to vote in future elections. I told him I cared more about local elections than the primary, local taxes effect me almost as much as who is Commander and Chief.

A little bit, as much as I try and avoid politics in the workplace, and anything incendiary; we've been talking about the debates since the first one, and discussing the silly stuff we see in the news and the hard selling staff for two months.

I had no idea he wasn't registered and didn't think to ask, in four years you'll bet it will be a topic I bring up.

I know somebody in their 50's who's never voted. She registered this year I think, and I KNOW she's boarded the Trump Train. She said I was her inspiration to vote that she finally "got it" and was shocked and embarrassed she never paid much attention. Granted, she's in a 1 party state.

Yes Sir, each election I plan to ask if everyone I work with and am not positive is registered, I live out of state but always go back for local and start elections to visit and vote.

Edit - oddly enough, i've never liked Mitch until this year he has been one of Trump's biggest supporters, but locally the vibe is he doesn't do enough for KY, right now i'm looking at the bigger picture.

Who cares? If they are that lazy and don’t or cannot comprehend the simple process then they shouldn’t be allowed to vote, imo. They clearly don’t care that much and if that’s the case I don’t want them voting. I want people voting that have a dog in the fight, not those that just wake up one day and are like whoa, dude I guess I should vote cause it’s the cool thing to do. Trump voter or not, I want someone with a brain to vote.

SilentStalkr, I don't feel like that's the really the case, and if that's how I made him sound I didn't do him justice. I think he's from a position where he never thought his opinion mattered or would count. I'm glad to see that he was interested, but it's just too late in the game. In our profession we move every 3-5 years and would need to register again, which is easy I know. I would rather have someone become enlightened and care, than to not take control of their right to do so.

If they have a brain, their vote will be for trump. Anyone that could vote for Biden is dumb as fuck!

I didn’t register and don’t feel at all bad about it. If these two cartoon characters are the best the blues and reds can dredge up then fuck them. As soon as any party nominates someone that I feel is worthy of my vote then I’ll be signing up

I do feel that trump is at least not as bad as biden but he still has too many red flags for me. He talked a great game about the fed, bringing troops home and stopping the wars, & pulling back the curtain a little bit that’s all it turned out to be, a bunch of hot air to get votes

Who would your ideal candidate be, if you could throw someone on the ballot? Living or dead.

From the list of past presidents, the case for Martin Van Buren is pretty strong. Ron Paul is the only person recently that I could support. I had such high hopes for Rand but he compromised himself too much to try to make the team

Until recently I looked up to Colin Powell, Allen West, Clint Eastwood, and Morgan Freeman.

Now, i'm not sure who I would pick if I were able to handpick the office. Anyone recall the southwark episode about voting between a giant douche, and a shit sandwich? I wonder how often it isn't just like that I don't think the right people are ever really allowed in Washington, because power is too corruptible.

ETA - I'll admit i'm unfamiliar with him and his work for us, though I've heard the name. I'll do some research so I can better appreciate your perspective.

The worst people who are the least qualified for the job will do the most horrifying shit to get that far of the power hierarchy

UH, with a Democrat Senator who needs to GO. Don't downplay the importance.

I will add that I will probably vote in the next CO state elections but it will be strictly to cast a vote against anyone that had anything to do with the CO-HIV19 overreaction and destruction of the local economy. Fuck these “people”, they deserve to pay much much more than just being voted out of their precious seat but that’s about all they’ll get

Your list is impressive. Though I think Morgan has always been a lefty. Allen West truly sickens me due to a connection through "former family." He may be a fine person, I don't know...I just know the person connected to him is basically a member of "I'll step on you to see The Who" club of ladder climbing. (Yes, I put weight in the company somebody keeps). Colin...he lost me in about 2004/5. Clint is senile, I'll cut him a tad more slack than Joe.

The vote doesn't count anyway what are you worried about

Not sure why you wouldn't apply the same logic to the presidential vote.

I used to feel that way until I convinced some people to put in the effort to vote. They decided to vote and as a result became politically aware and started paying attention. Everyone starts somewhere, and these people were in their 50's.

Im just tired man! Not enough people care. That’s the main reason we are in this mess.

The D, you really need to watch that episode of South Park, if you haven't.

On another note, the only thing I truly care about other than strict constitutionalism, is the 2nd amendment. Trump may have EO'd bump stocks but Biden is promising bans registrations and anything he can. Trump was placating with something I don't even own, the left will make gun owners criminals in a minute.

I'd never heard of Barrett, but I'm all for a more conservative court ruling on constitutional cases, when I know damn well the progressives and liberals want to delete the 2nd amendment from it.

If everyone has been watching, there should be some hella cases coming regarding the first amendment; against facebook, twitter, and MSM for denying the freedom of speech, suppressing the press, act act.

Do you really not understand how our system of government works? Do you really not understand that the President isn't all powerful? Do you really not understand there is a bureaucracy and a judicial branch that have stymied many of his moves?

    I thought you were intelligent.............

    2016 was my first vote.........ever.

I will be voting long and often from now on.
Same for me. I hadn’t ever voted prior to 2016. My mindset up to that point was that they are all politicians. The are going to lie and take my money either way. In 2016 it occurred to me that we could have a known murderer running this country. That’s when I decided to get off my rump and vote. I am glad I did.
In 2018 I watched the scum of the earth attempt to destroy Brett Kavanaugh for political gain. That’s when I decided that I would vote republican every chance I get.

Please post your leadership suggestions, we can write in a new government.

In this day and age, I just want a plain normal old guy, preferably someone who knows how to work and run a biz. If you have been in DC your whole life, you ain’t it. Doesnt necessarily make you a bad person but the chances of you being corrupted and grabbed by the machine are high. Can’t have any of those people. Need people from the outside. It pains me to say that to as I know plenty of people in DC right now that were once great men, but they’ve changed. Get what I’m saying? I know a few good guys personally lol.

Haven't heard much about Col. West lately. Didn't he have some health issue? Anyhow he would still be close to the top of my list along with Ben Shapiro and Laura Ingraham.

I guess I am just getting olde.
A few weeks ago, two women were walking around the neighborhood. They had some sort of plastic badges that I couldn't read since I didn't have my glasses on. They asked me, almost in unison, if I was registered to vote and who I was voting for. I replied, "I thought voting was supposed to be done by secret ballot!"
They were taken aback as they were not expecting that answer.

We are 8 days from socialism and we got fuckers in here asking about dead or alive people for pres? Got people on Gun forum not gonna vote for their right to bear arms? Dumb as fuck I’ll tell ya!

Top of my list: Melancton Smith, Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry, Sam Adams.

    In that order.

Ok, I have to throw in Caleb Strong, just because he is one of my ancestors.

    Probably just standing on principals..
Just waiting for the perfect candidate.
BTW- I'll bet this person has more than a few opinions about elected officials.

It is in my opinion that if you don’t vote, you can’t complain about who ends up in office. My father-in-law has stressed that to me on multiple occasions.

I understand how the gov works and I’m disgusted how it’s been allowed to be perverted over the years. I’m not willing to compromise my position enough to validate what washington is doing

I still maintain my position that I don’t completely rule out voting, it just definitely won’t be this year. If any of the parties nominate someone who isn’t a complete cartoon, I’ll reconsider

but he is too wishy washy and close to the swamp
I've never seen him be wishy washy and I think he was elected to a senatorial position once.

AFAIK he's never held any sort of job in any government bureaucracy.

Tell me again how close is he to the swamp?

Because I have many more concerns about trump than I do about any local Colorado nominee.

Refusing to vote for Trump is a vote for Biden.

I don't give a fuck if you agree with that or not. I don't give a fuck if you think that it shouldn't be that way.

That's the way it is and your idealism is treasonous.

    About West:

I think he’s walked on the fringe of being in politics and being out of politics too long. I like what he says but he should know enough to jump in the Trump did.

I wish he would run for he would have been a decent follow up to Obama. More so than I thought a TV actor would have been, although I have been surprised.

I do believe a refusal to vote is a vote for the opposition primarily because I think they are cheating trying to buy votes. Whereas no one here as upset as they are has offered you money to go vote for trump.
