I am looking for a scope for my recently built AR-10. Its a .308 with a 16" barrel. Its main purpose is a utility rifle for out at the ranch, i.e. pigs, coyotes, deer (if i see one in season), any other varmint/rodent that i may run across. I love the vortex viper hs 2-10 for my purposes because I do not really want the exposed turrets, its only going to be used for hunting under 300 yards, and the price fits right around what I want to pay. The only thing that the vortex doesn't offer in that model is illumination (unless they do and I overlooked it) which I would really like to have. We do a lot of spot lighting and I like have that illuminated reticle for easier acquisition on critters. Is there another scope out there that would be basically the same thing as the viper and still have the illumination?
Basically looking for something in the range of 2-12 power (doesn't have to be that, just something within there. I mainly shoot on 6x), capped turrets as I do not need to make adjustments for my type of shooting, illumination, and around the $400-$500 mark.
I have looked around and have yet to find anything I care for. It seems everything with illumination seems to have exposed turrets and if i find one without the exposed turrents, no illumination.
