Anyone use the 50gr TNT in a 1 in 12 twist 700p? Midway has them on sale cheep and might have to give them a try. My stash of Berg 52 and Nos 52's are low and I'm interested if you used these and how they did. All imput welcome. Donald

My 1-12 .223 liked 50's but it loved the 40gr blitzking's and Vmax. I shoot the same load exactly for both the BK and the Vmax and my gun can't hardly tell the difference. Both will shoot .3 all day long.

Re: Speer 50gr. TNT bullet and 700P ?

Thanks guys I'll take the plunge. I've got a 1/14 22/250 also so if they don't work out in the 700P I'll try them in it.

Samson I've shot quite a few Nos 40 BT's and they just don't want to get tight. They work great in my 1/14 22/250 but I'm looking for that one cheap bullet for both. If they don't pan out I run them through the AR. About as cheap as 55 FMJ's any way. Donald

My 1-12 223 def. likes the 40gr sierra BK with 27.3gr of Benchmark, oal 2.26 the very best with the 40gr vmax with the same exact load a VERY close 2nd.

Don,

Are you sure your 700P is a 1-12? I thought most 700Ps and 700LTRs were made in 1-9 twist to stabilize the 69 gr. FGM round.

It doesn't matter though, I use the 50 TNTs in my 26" 1-12 700VS, my 20" 1-9 700LTR, and my 16" 1-9 Bushy AR-15 - it works great in all 3 sticks. It shoots bugholes out of both bolt guns wirh stout loads of AA2015, H335 or BL-C(2), and shoots just as good as 52 or 53 gr. SMKs out of the AR-15.

Good shooting! Buck

Buck it's an odd one. A guy I know specail ordered it and had it set up for match use with Redfield sights and bases. Looks alot like a M24. I have no idea why the 1/12 but I guess he wanted speed over wind bucking weight. I got the whole gun sights and all for less than a 223 Sendero so I jumped on it. I also picked up a new 223 LTR barrel for 50.00 about the same time. I had thought of maeking a shortie but it shoots to well as is so I've left it as is for now. I've picked up a 700P just a few months ago that belonged to a hide member that is 1/9 and shoots anything in the 69gr range with scary accuracy. My pet loads have been 52's with the 1/12 and shoot them also in the 19 well. good shooting to all. Donald
