Howdy fellas, I bought a new ar from my brother in law roast weekend. He traded for the gun and sold it to me seeing as he is moving out of state and trying to gather funds for med school. He told me the entire rifle was spikes. I bought it, sight unseen mainly to help him out. Obviously I could confirm the lower was spikes from the pics he sent me but when I went to pick it up I noticed the BCG was palmetto state. It’s silver. Maybe NB? Regardless I can’t find any markings on the upper receiver that would let me know where it came from. I’m not worried about it. I gave him 800 bucks for the rifle and it came with a vortex red dot so I’m not going broke over it. I just thought y’all might could give me some insight into what the heck this upper is comprised of. I pulled the hand guard off of it the other day and so no markings behind it by the way.

The barrel markings definitely look like the two PSA barrels I have, however mine are the premium FN marked barrels, but the font and placement look familiar. Appears to be the regular PSA upper like awpk03s said, with a spikes lower.

The BCG looks like hard chrome. They offered those last time I bought a PSA upper, but recently I think they've started switching over the NIB and Nitride stuff.

I've had a Hard Chrome BCG in my precision AR for like 7 years and I really like it, definitely easier to clean than the standard BCGs.

I've found that people who don't know shit about firearms, no offense to your brother-in-law, usually say the gun is whatever is printed on it. Normally that'd be fine with bolt guns and lever guns, but with AR's it sort of flies past them

Looks like one of the PSA Rifle kit + optic combos that were frequently offered at great prices prior to the rice rabies.
