Hope it's okay to post this here, no other place on SnipersHide I could think to post it. Delete if necessary.

These questions are for all the sponsored shooters. Before I start this topic, I understand that wanting to be a sponsored shooter isn't the reason to shoot PRS matches. I love the sport and want to see it grow just as much as all of you. That being said, I see myself participating in this sport for a long time and want to help reputable businesses push product by representing them at these matches. I am not trying to ruffle any feathers here, but I know there are many of you who felt the same way as I do back when you were developing your shooting career.

My questions:
1.) How did you go about asking companies to sponsor or partially sponsor you? Please be specific, details are important.

2.) What are your perks of being a sponsored shooter? I understand if you cannot post which company you are sponsored by, I am only looking for the perks and the industry they are in (ammunition, chassis/stock, actions, barrels, optics, gear, etc.)

3.) What are the requirements to be sponsored? In other words, do you need to finish the season in the top percentage to keep your sponsorship? (I realize requirements are different for each company but generally speaking)

4.) How long do the sponsorship last? Do they need to be renewed? Is there a formal contract?

Thanks

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post a public response.

Put 5-6 years into the sport and make a name for yourself and the sponsors will approach you. 99.9% of these companies already have a full staff of sponsored shooters and they watch for up and coming shooters to fill the spots as current shooters retire.

Everyone shooting a match now a days thinks they should be sponsored. These companies get hundreds of calls a week from unkown people looking for sponsorship and handouts.

Think of it like a 3% rebate on your credit card. Spend $30k on gear/ammo/matches to get good enough to be sponsored, get $1k back in gear provided once you get picked up by a manufacturer. :)

1. I didn't and I will never ask to be sponsored. It's just not me. Everyone I represent has approached me. Be a nice person, finish well and sooner or later Karma will catch up to you.

2. Quicker service.

3. Depends on company.

4. Depends on company. Some deals are one off like a brake or a bag to try. The bigger sponsorships are usually a year long agreement.
