SPR Optics in a mid-price tier?

I'm looking to upgrade quality and decrease weight from my current PST2 3-15 on my 16" 5.56 SPR rifle. Most shooting would be 600 yards and in, but I wouldn't rule out shooting a little further past that, understanding the limitations of a 16" 5.56 gun. I'm mainly looking to keep things lightweight and maximize quality while keeping the price or under $1500. I'm willing to entertain anything between a 1-10 to a 3-18, though there are few choices in the 3-18 class that will be at or under 30ish ounces.

Right now I'm planning to get a Nightforce 2.5-10x42, possibly with an offset red dot (minimizes the weigh savings, but adds a backup sighting system....)

Others I'm considering are the upcoming Eotech 1-10 (Vortex 1-10 is going to be out of my price point even with their discount, unfortunately) on the low end and a Burris XTR3 3.3-18 when the illuminated models come out.

Should I consider either of those two over the Nightforce, or is there another option in 5.56 SPR range that I'm missing?

Leupold MK5 3.6-18 can be had used within your budget. I snagged a 3.6-18 PR1 last week within youre budget.

Between the Burris and NXS 2.5-10 I’d take the Burris all day. The NXS is pretty mediocre glass if I’m being generous, and the reticles are meh. Burris has two solid reticles, and considerably better glass.

A)Vortex Razor LHT 4.5-22x50(FOV isn't the best at 4.5)(with an offset RDS)
B) Burris XTRIII 3.3-18x50i(not less weight here) (with an offset RDS)
C) Eotech 1-10x28(A little bit bigger objective then your average lpvo to let in a bit more light and some of the reticles look really nice at 10x)
D)Used Leupold 3.6-18x44 (if you could find a nice used one for $1500 that would be the go to IMO)(with an offset RDS) as was mentioned.
E) Used Bushnell LHRSI 4.5-18x44(underrated optic made in Japan, it's nice, a little long and smaller FOV on 4.5x)

*In no particular order

Cameraland has the xtriii 3.3-18 for 999 and I’m doing exactly what you are. Went from a 2-10 to a 1-6 pst, had a 5.5-30 Xtriii and now I’m putting the little brother on my 16”.

I know I got lucky when I found a NF ATACR 4-16x42 (Mil-R) on here for $1700 with rings.

If you can find one for a similar price, its definitely a quality optic to look at right at 30oz. I have it on a 18” rifle and it fits nicely. I plan on using an Acro P2 as an offset whenever one gets back in stock.

There’s a DMR2 Pro in the PX that’s cheap. The glass is very good on those. If it’s like the DMR3 though it will have a little tunneling on the low end to about 5-5.5x fyi. Throw and offer out there to him if you like it.

I like more than 10x mag, so I'd probably go with the xtr 3 for 1000. Lots of good choices, but that is a screaming deal. I have a 4-16 atacr which i love (and would buy again), but it will cost much more than 1000. The mark 5 is probably another great option, but I've never handled one in person.
