My buddy has a really nice 03A3 but it is missing the locking mechanism for the floorplate. We have looked locally with no luck. Anyone know where we can get one for a fair price??
Re: Springfield 1903 A3 Floorplate Locking Mechanism
I dont think the 03A3 had a removable floor plate. The A3 was an adaptation of the 03 designed for ease of manufacturing and most of it was stamped sheet metal rather than milled.
If your rifle has a floor plate it came from an 03 and was a mod done during rebuild, as a means to increase accuracy or just personal preference.
Hop on to the CMP Forum or Culvers Shooting Page and post a want to buy ad you should get plenty of direction on where to go.
Note if your rifle has an 03 trigger guard with a milled plate and it is not removable, many of the most recent rifles came from Greece and the Greeks pinned the magazine bottoms shut for some reason. If there is a "B" stamped on the floor plate that is a giveaway that you have a pinned floor plate. You can remove the brass pin and restore the function of your magazine plate.
