Hi all,

Just placed order for spuhr mount to go on my premier 5x25. Is there requirement to lap the mount? I researched the forum and it sounds like no need for quality mounts but just wanted to make sure.

Let me know you guys experience.

Thanks.

You do not need to lap a Spuhr mount.

The point of lapping rings is to fix misalignment of the ring bores that result from rings that are not dimensionally matched and/or rings that are not aligned because the rail they mount on is not straight.

The body of a Spuhr mount is not going to twist when you clamp it on the base, even if the base is not straight. The bores are machined in one setup so the alignment is quite good if not perfect.

I did not lap my Spuhr mount and I cringe at the idea of violating such a nice piece of kit with abrasive, but that's just me.

Thanks for the information. It is beautiful piece of equipment. As for torque value on scope base, can you tightened to over 45 in lb? (This was torque value recommended.) I'm planning to put this on 50 cal as well.

Let me know.

Thanks.
