SRT Rifle Suggestion

My Police Department recently started an SRT component of which I was selected as a Sniper. My PD has given me a budge of $5000 to select a rifle and optic. I was a sniper in the Army and used the Remington XM2010 300 winmag bolt action rifle as well as the SASS 110. I was thinking of an Remington 700 in a different chassis, mostly likely .308.
Any suggestions on rifle or websites to buy complete builds would be awesome, as Im not up on the civilian side of long-guns yet. I will post a thread in the optics forum as well for discussion on those. Thanks

Hop over to the Mil/LE sub-forum and take a look for a fairly recent one that discussed rifle choice. A lot of dudes were talking about the AIAT. Also, Mile High does special LE pricing on the AI ATLE rifle, so definitely give them a call. When looking for optic’s, make sure to contact the companies directly for the Mil/LE discount. The Mil/LE sub-forum also has some recent threads discussing optic choice/considerations for the LE sniper role.
