Rifle Scopes SS 10x42 HD?

Is the HD 10x glass worth the extra money compared to the regular 10x?
How is it compared to the USO St-10?

I am so new to rifles, I don't even know how to use the mil dot, I wanted to learn so I bought the savage 10 fcp hs precision and a ss 10x42HD and took it out and all the people out on the range said the money was well worth the scope (hunters,snipers, and recreational shooters). I just thought I'd let you know hope it helps.

Everything I've read says its a big step up. But you have to decide what you are wanting to do with the rifle. I shoot with two guys one has the bushnell 10x40 one has the side focus regular 10x and I have a 3-9. The bushnell seemed weaker at the fixed 10 than my 3-9 on 9. Not sure if it was clarity or field of view but it was very noticable. The 10x and the 3-9 were comparable but the FFP mil/mil situation makes the 3-9 a bunch more desirable. I wouldn't go for a regular fixed 10 unless you get the newer mil/mil version. Very stuck on the fixed 10 setup?

The glass compared well with my Mark 4, however, I return it (NIB) and keep my other swfa 10x. But the glass on the HD is better. I just liked the none HD ss better. More tactical look and they are the best $300 scope on the market. In fact I sold some of my swfa SS's to help fund the new mil/mil ss I have on order. Both models are great scopes. It is only money for trading for what you need and sometime want.

The HD has much better glass, but it is more than that as well. It is a whole new scope on the inside, the internals are totally re-designed. They pretty much took a very robust scope, and super-sized it.
As far as price goes, only you can decide that. I would bet that you would not be disappointed in either scope.

Yeah, not only is the glass much better (I've had both), the turrets are definitely nicer and the internals are said to be more well built. I was sad to sell it back to SWFA, but I don't have money for another rifle for it to sit on top of...
