I don't like these posts, but, look do with this information what you will. I understand that we can all have a bad experience with places and businesses or people etc etc and it's not necessarily reflective of their normal operations etc, just, heads up this is my experience.
Steer clear of St Arbor Customs.
In 2022, I was building a custom rifle for competition. I needed the stock to fit a Winchester 70 action. McMillan no longer inlet for it. There was no one in Australia at the time who could do it, so I asked McMillan and they put me into St Arbor Customs.
The bloke I spoke to is Doug. He is a very nice, friendly man. Under different circumstances I'd probably go for a beer with him. He helped me sort out the stock and even helped me with some rarer parts to add to it. Great.
I place my order in September 2022 and paid just over $2700, or somewhere in the ballpark of $1850 in USD.
Every time I reached out for an update, I was told that it'd be in the mail soon, he just has a lot of over heads and can't afford to ship it to me atm. I'm pretty sure I paid for postage in the initial quote, but I understand, he's starting a new business, i'll be a bit patient.
Then 2023 passed, then 2024 passed, all the same updates, all the same story (when I could get hold of him). It'll be posted soon, he just doesn't have the money right now.
It's now 3 years past when I ordered the stock. I've just googled "St Arbor Custom" and their website doesn't seem to exist anymore, so I guess he went out of business or something, but if it's all still going and the website is just down or something, maybe just have a look at the options you have for inletting and custom stock work.
I don't want to be a dick and LET'S ALL GRAB OUR FLAMING TORCHES AND BURN HIS HOUSE DOWN, I'm just saying, this is what happened to me, and I'm pretty annoyed by it.
