Stag Model 6 w/Leupold Mark 8

I'm very interested in acquiring the subject system, Stag Model 6 w/Leupold Mark 8. However as a Vietnam vet approaching 70, I would prefer something lighter. I like the caliber and the semi-auto capability. However, w/scope, bipod and ammo the system is pushing 18 lbs. Does anyone have a recommendation for another rifle? I've searched the net but haven't seen any unbiased info.

Mk12 mod 1 and a mk 4 2.5-8

Great setup, not too heavy and super accurate.
