It's guttural and choppy, unlike Cantonese which is a sing song language, and much more beautiful coming off the tongue."

What's interesting is the ruling Communist party members from the mainland think exactly the opposite way. They think Cantonese is spoken by those low class southerners. (Sort of like if you speak Brazilian Portuguese, to one of the upper stuffy type Portuguese folk).

I didn't know any Mandarin as a kid, only Cantonese and one day at a trade show I was saying a few polite words to a visiting somebody or other and they proceeded to act like I was the village idiot and proceeded to give me a short language lesson in how to say the same thing in Mandarin till I got it correct.

I'm not sure I'd say Cantonese is a "sing song" language, it usually sounds like you are about to rip the other person apart (probably because the 8 tones mean different words rather than emotions).

I do like the traditional Chinese characters better, but I guess simplifying them did make it easier to get the masses taught to read.

Oh China! Huawei, offers to financially set up employees who will hand over code and technology from their former employment. Huawei is infamous for stealing tech and not even bothering to spell correct the manuals from the technology or code they have stolen. Look at all the shit they have stollen from Apple and Cisco Systems. This gal is just going to be used as an example, it's what we should be doing to all these fuckers who commit corporate espionage.
