Looking at this place from a days gone by perspective some things have changed a lot for the good but, other ass-pects are much worst. The amount of bitching over worthless shit is up while the stuff most shooters used to worry about is way down. Did most of you guys get bitched slapped a lot on scout or what? Frank runs a good ship, but take you man pills more often. Used to be the I have a stick just like XXX used in XXX to vault his self to glory was never front page attention garnering B/S worth the read. Now it seems all the rage instead of knowing how he got there an back. They can tell you all about his stick/ammo/gear/shot ect but know nothing about how he trained to employ for jump off.
For a group of guys who haunt this site it's telling what topics are all the rage but where the meat an potatoes of the task is, seems to be the Red Headed Stepchild. Guess knowing the gear, is far more important than the knowing how to use it, or even why it's used or set up like it is. Understand the basic questions from new guys, expected but,...

Just rambling of an old guy, I'll go take my meds now,...

I think the good info will come back. Just need people to start asking the questions again. I joined just before the move to scout, maybe a year, then stuck with it through scout. I've learned a lot through that time and am just now working my way through a lot of the old threads and posts. It seems that their are already more daily posts than on Scout in many of the sub-forums outside The Bear Pit. Yes a lot of it seems like chaff but some of it does have good substance which gives me hope.

Just my observation.

Well you can only read so many "which scope should I buy" threads. I even admit to being the author of a couple years ago. I hang out in the "pit"and Maggies the most for a couple reasons.
The info in Equipment, bolt action, semi action, observation devices and suppressors is mostly repeat so i hit them every 48hrs or so. I wish there was more action in the nightvision section.
also the egos and comradery are more to my liking here.
It does seem like we have lost some charater along the way. Right now we are missing our favorite punching bag and i think some are experiencing DTS cause of it. Myself might be included in that to a degree.

I keep hearing that but why. What was so fucked up about scout that you would abandon snipershide for. And to that if you dislike change and decided to "move on with your life". What in the hell would bring you back. There wasn't anything in scout that kept people from having a conversation.
On the administration side it might have sucked. Tucker or Lowlight can comment on that. But as far as forums go it was just that. A forum.
I am a creature of habit and dislike change and i didn't see what the big deal was.
I feel that some felt we were like a grudge band, and when our leader had a chance to pull us out of the garage and go "main stream" some left because they felt he was "selling out". Life is not without out risk, it didn't work but those that left really never were team players. Now that we are back in the garage they might come back, but they were never true fans of our music anyway. They were fans of being "on the fringe".

I'm just here for comic relief, kind of like Icy Hot, not for internal use. Scout was the kinder gentler 'Hide, guys got REALLY butthurt if you called them out on a 3 round group and guys there thought that I am a world class asshole. Funny thing is I'm a jr. asshole amongst some of the original 'Hide denizens. Graham and many others are back, I am hoping that news of the original "Hide resurrection makes it to Sinister, Montana. Marine and Dr. Don Heath among many others in the hopes that the signal to noise ratio (some of you know what that means) will improve.

^ I would like to add icy hot should not be used above the belt before entering the shower. That shits cold when water is applied!

Nor,as I can testify, before going out for some hard work.I put some on my lower back and forgot it, then put on thermals and went out to do some hard labor......about 15 minutes into the job i was shedding trou rapidly.

There has indeed been a strong increase in "the element", but look at the factors. You had Scout which was a gateway for stupidity. Speaking ok, let's clarify some terms. There is a difference between a stupid post and a greenhorn post. Sure, the lines get blurry but that's what you get when you attract new members. You have to admit that everyone was at that point at some time in the past, and this place would indeed get old if it was just the same people with input constantly. It's part of evolution that has come with the popularity of marksmanship and to some degree, competition. People still are accustom to being able to utilize the search function - you'd see a drop in stupid posts if they did. Less broken record posts for sure.

Right now we also have the more committed shooters (all-weather shooters) commenting and creating content. Spring/Summer rolls around and the fair-weather shooters will speak up.

The what scope should I get threads do get quite old. I've wanted to push the total spaz button on them a few times but I just can't bring myself to argue over the Internet. I just can't do it in any useful and productive capacity. If I am going to bitch and mock someone I am going to do it in person... You will see me light into a few post occasionally, but still rarely. The goal is to ultimately help others with a common interest. These are where the better newbie posts come into play versus the same old shit.

Frank's goal is to create articles that somewhat remove stickies and also attempt to curb some of the broken record posts. Users' ability to actually utilize the articles section - to be determined!
