I am in the market for a gun safe. I cant really spend much over $1500 so these steelwater safes caught my eye. I watched a few of their break in tests on youtube:

but I am a bit skeptical. Anyone have one of these that can comment on them? I am looking at a TF6036E5 amsec safe and a liberty safe (either the largest revere or the smallest Colonial) as well. Input is appreciated.

I am also considering a Johnson safe: http://www.johnsonsafes.com
Since they are in Indiana and made in the USA.

Thoughts?

Re: Steelwater gun safes?

Slyfox, prior to buying my safe I did what I believed to be an exhaustive amount of research that led me to two choices in my price range. One was the AMSEC BF series and the other was Sturdy Safe. At that time I considered both to offer about the same amount of bulglary protection but I felt that AMSEC offered better fire protection. Since my purchase I've come to realize, from reading here on the hide, that the fire protection is really not steller in any residential security container. I am however, still very happy with my purchase and must say that I laugh out loud every time I'm in the local sporting goods store and knock on a "safe" only to hear it sound like a cymbal.

I have no knowledge of the Steelwater that you mentioned so I cannot say one way or the other.
