I recently purchased a Steiner 3-12x56 Mil Dot scope and have been testing it out over the last couple of days. I've noticed a fair amount of chromatic aberration (purple fringing). My assumption was that optics of this quality and cost would have eliminated this. If I change my eye position it tends to disappear.
Has anyone else experienced this, is this usual or unusual, is my technique off when I look through the scope?

Thanks.

PS. I haven't really used scopes before, just red dots and iron sights.

When do you see the fringing... is it only in high contrast environments or when looking at white?

Fringing has to be pretty gnarly for me to care about it, but that's me.
