Just took delivery of one of the first Steiner 8x30 binocular with the SUMR mil reticle along with a LRF. Just quickly running the LRF around so far it returns within a few seconds on non reflective objects out to 1000 yards. For what it is worth it returned off of heavy cloud cover at 1,860 yards? It is very light weight at 1.8 lbs, really liking that, adding all these features in one. Long Gun Training will be running a class next weekend and I plan on using it with students and really test it out. The reticle in an 8 power optic does well indexing target locations off of reference objects but to use it for quality ranging I think is to much for a low power. Will post more after our class, however so far like it.

Used the Steiner LRF instructing a class this past weekend, they preformed well. Setting up a KD steel course this unit returned ranges quick. Set up a 100 yard board, I always use a steel tape to get exact from face of boards to the line for tall target drills, afterwards hit the board and came back 100 yards. Picking up far treelines in the distance 1760 yards was no problem. I have other LRF units and still want to compare, but I really like these light weight, compact and they work well.

Got mine a month ago and really like them so far. Just got a Mefoto tripod to test out some known long distances. Hard to hold them study enough for small objects out past 850 meters or so . Glass is fantastic and reads both in meters and yards. Nice light package with long life battery. Says over 5,000 readings on a single battery.
Have not been able to test them in any inclement weather yet.
