I have a luna and it is stupid bright, just not a fan of its cheesy construction and always shifting where its pointed. I am willing in invest in a more robust unit like the D2 or the Spir, but I don't know a whole lot about them. From what I have read the Spir is just the illuminator off the D2, and both the D2 and Spir don't have a way to adjust where the illuminator is aiming. I'm looking to run this on a PVS27 where I dial in the luna to be right on the crosshairs. How does this work with the D2 or spirit if you want to focus the beam for longer ranges? Any other illuminator that's recommended for 1000 yard illumination on a rifle with PVS27's?

Neither the D2 or Spir will do what you want to do at 1,000 yards. The Luna is probably your best option.

It's probably not really shifting. As you vary the ranges you are sighting on targets through your scope you may have to adjust the Luna to coincide with that aiming point. It shoots a straight beam but your trajectory is not straight, thus the need to adjust the Luna due to change in shooting distances.
