I have ordered stencils from Airslick in the past... easy to use... small N52 neobendium magnets make them easy to attach to Steel or thin non ferrous items...

I figured I would post some of their halloween items as they might work on your next project.

For thin items. like an aluminum magazine-
disassemble
position stencil
place a magnet on top of the stencil - another inside the magazine - so the magnets attract / stick to each other- clamping the stencil in place....

Never thought of using magnets.. cool idea

You can also print off stencil designs you find online or if you make some in Photoshop / Gimp. Pick up some lamination plastic and trace the picture with a sharpie then cut it out with a razor blade. Use some 3m spray glue to "tack" them to the magazine/canvas/ whatever ...spray paint it and then wipe clean any glue once paint dries

Here's one I did of my dog a while back.
