Hey guys! First post here and great forum. I am just getting into long range shooting and am going tomorrow morning to buy a new Stevens 200 in 308. I have read great reviews on these but wanted to post here and see what you guys have to say about them or if you have any pointers/tips. I will be reloading for this rifle as well. I am anxious to get it and see how it does. Thanks for any and all replies you may have.

The stevens 200 rifles are an excellent place to start. They will accept all of the aftermarket parts that a savage will and are cheap. However the stocks and triggers suck. Also the factory barrel on this is a thin sporter profile. Thus lots of upgrades are in front of these rifles to get them up to speed.

My rifle started life as a Stevens, I would recommend a SSS trigger over the Rifle Basix and Timney trigger though.

Where did you get most of your upgrade components and the sss?

Jim Briggs at Northland Shooters Supply is who I prefer to get most of my Savage/Stevens stuff from. He carrys a lot of stuff on hand and is easy to deal with.

I got my DBM from SSS. They make some top notch Savage parts.

I got my SSS trigger Here, they had a group buy and sold out, he's expecting more, but SSS is slow to ship.
I have a CDI bottom metal, as well as a SSS bottom metal; I definitely prefer the CDI. It's of a higher quality, plus the AI mags are much better. Though SSS makes other top notch Savage parts.
