I compete with and carry STI guns and customs built with STI parts. I carry a VIP, which is essentially the same gun as the Guardian, but mine is a .40. My wife has a 9mm guardian. Both are excellent.

Thanks for the reply. I have an escort and a Marauder. Thinking about selling the escort in favor of a double stack carry gun. Is her guardian a 9?

I have one in .45. Great size and well built. Go for it!

Yes, it's a 9. She doesnt carry on body often. It mostly lives in her glove box. Its a fairly recent purchase and we have maybe 300 rounds through it. So far it will eat everything from my competition loads to factory defense loads with no issue. It's an excellent gun.

I carry the VIP inside waistband and it conceals fairly easily. The double stack grip is only slightly wider than the single stack. It just feels bigger because it is more square.

lgs is quoting 1725 if I recall correctly. Does that sound about right?

I really enjoy 9MM 1911's and STI is probably as good as it gets without going custom. Dan Wesson is their only competition but I don't think they have a double stack carry option. I wouldn't be to concerned about quality with STI. They know their business.

I have a .45 VIP, but it required quite a bit of professional work to make it 100% reliable. Fortunately I got it for a steal and with the gunsmith work only came to about a $100 over retail.
