I've heard mixed feedback regarding using a standard (large) firing pin in the higher pressure small rifle primer cartridges like 6.5x47. I will be rebarreling to 6.5x47 in a month or so and wondering if my tac 30 is going to need additional work to prevent cratering and premature pressure signs.

A lot of things new shooters do is listen to the Bubba BS.
It takes a while to filter out what real or b/s. Bushing a firing pin is one item.
If you are cratering the primer and you pierce the primer yes its a big issue. Have it bushed or reevaluate your load. Maybe it's to dam hot.
But if just cratering it and nothing is an issue leave it alone.
But if bothers you and you want to fix it go ahead.
Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate the feedback. I've got 3 matches in the next 4 weeks, then I will be rebarreling to 6.5x47. Like others have said I'm just going to shoot it and pay attention more to pressure indicators on brass and flattened/blown primers instead of just cratering alone.
