I have a Remington 700 SPS Tactical .223 and would like to put the barreled action into a Mcmillan stock. The stock I have found

is for a short action but has been sized for a Badger Ordnance M4 triggerguard and recoil lug inlet, and Douglas #7 barrel channel.

Will my barreled action just drop right in, or will some gunsmithing be required?

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: stock fitting questions

Those modifications to the stock are all material removing procedures. Your action and barrel should fit right into that stock with not hardly any problem. You may have to do some trimming to get a perfect drop in, but no gun smithing should be required. I'm not sure how the #7 barrel differs from an sps tactical barrel. The barrel channel would just have some extra space in it around the barrel and the recoil lug.

Hope that helps.

Re: stock fitting questions

#7 Douglas is .875 @ 26" but the site doesn't give a mid point OD. like said above, it will be close and may need a little sanding in the barrel channel, maybe not, but not a big deal.

The Badger M4 has a larger footprint than the factory M700, so you'd be best served buying M4 bottom metal, but they're $340.

Your stock has also been inletted for a larger Badger recoil lug, and bedding the lug area of the stock would fill in the extra space for the factory lug.

Edited to say: You could have a smith bed in your factory bdl, receiver/lug area and be done with it.
