I have a Savage 114 in .338 Win Mag with the factory wood stock on it. I would like to get a new stock for it that completely free floats the barrel but is not hugely heavy. I was looking at Choate, which seems to be the only company I can find for this gun, but a guy at my last shoot had one and it was beastly heavy. Can anyone please recommend a stock that is not as heavy and that will actually fit my rifle?

i do not know if the mag receivers are small shank or not, but you can use almost any stock that any 110 or 111 or anyother long action will fit if that helps. try stockade or SSS has a nice tactical laminate. manners should have a lightweight that will fit a savage long action. worth a look. choate or mcmillan or HS maybe even Boyd's. just type savage 114 stocks in yahoo and dig, i bet there are a bunch

The problem that I'm running in to, and that I should have mentioned when I first posted, is that the gun I have is a center feed magazine that has the hinged floor plate, and none of the stocks that anybody has will fit that magazine style. Choate is the only one I can find, and they are heavier then hell. All the Manners stocks are for stagger feed magazines, and I didn't see anything in HS Precision for long action Savages.
