I have a 270wsm in Rem SPS. The factory stock on this rifle is very cheap. I have been searching the net for a stock to fit this rifle. Now I have only been looking at pic online and I know that I can't be exact by looking at pics. The thing is that on Rems sight they say that the sps is to carry on the traditional ADL. Looking at stocks that are to fit the ADL doesn't look like it will fit this action. Being the action screw spacing and bottom metal. The BDL looks more like it would fit. My question is witch is it ADL or BDL?
Thanks

Re: stock for the sps rem. short mag?

You can order the BDL magazine box from brownells to convert to BDL, then get a nice aftermarket SA floorplate (williams, ptg, badger, etc.) or skip all that and go to AICS mag-fed bottom metal... the third (center) ADL screw will be removed and not used in doing this conversion. All rem700 short actions will interchange stocks with other 700 short actions, and longs with other longs. It's all about how you want your bottom metal to be. Personally, if you have the blind ADL magazine, I would not go back to that on a custom stock, as it's a limiting factor sometimes.

Decide what floor metal you want to use and get a stock that will fit it. If you get an HS or B&C, you'll have to get the BDL inlet and do some fitting (or have a smith do it!) to inlet for magazines or non-standard floorplates like the badger. McMillan or Manners will inlet for your choice at the time of order.

If you are unsure of what you have, ask a local gunsmith to help you get going on this, or post a picture of the bottom of the gun on this thread and we can help you.

Re: stock for the sps rem. short mag?

The only difrence between the ADL and BDL is the BDL has the drop plate in the magazine.

if you have the drop plate get a BDL stock. If it doesnt have the drop plate get an ADL stock... If you want to convert to the drop plate you should be able to order a triger gaurd/ bottom mettal and make your rifle work with a BDL stock.

Re: stock for the sps rem. short mag?

If the sps has a drop floorplate (it should) it is the same inlet as a bdl. If it's a blind mag it's adl. I think remington means it's their base model, adl used to be the base model.

Re: stock for the sps rem. short mag?

I am 99.9% sure that the sps will fit in a BDL stock. If you look at the pic above, the 2nd stock down matches bottom metal and screw hole placement. I have no way of measuring the wholes in the pic, but the trigger guard and bottom metal and screws are in the same place as the 2nd stock in the pic above. Thanks for the info guys. Like others have said even if it is an ADL it doesn't take much to convert to the BDL.

My plans are to go with the HS stock. They Make a great stock. This rifle will be strickly for hunting so I'm not in the need for the MBR bench rest, or F class style stock.
