Stock ID and Project?

I guess this could go under dumb questions sections but I’m trying to ID this stock.
The history is years ago I was on the sniper team at the agency I was with at the time. I remember us upgrading stocks and barrels and we were allowed to purchase what we had. I loved to shoot but was not the research and gun build kind of guy at the time. More less, loved the tactics, the challenge, the competition, the many things that changed bullet flight, etc. Sooo, I picked up a stock and barrel with the hopes of building a bolt gun for my son for when he was older. He’s a SR and I want to finally complete the build and gift to him. Any help on ID’ing the stock, suggestions on what to do next, would be very much appreciated. I was told at the time that it was a McMillan stock and Hart barrel...police are known to fabricate !

Not a mcmillan. It's a wood Remington 40x stock that has been painted.

Thanks for the replies!! I didn’t think it was a McMillan but wanted to find out..more for parts list knowledge on the completed build. I have a 700 .308 that he deer hunts with now but it’s the old spring drop mag well. (I’m sure I didn’t give it the proper terminology but pretty sure it describes it well). Of course I’ll want to change all of that.
